Breakfast with the Padres

Sports MBA students, Emma Black and Catherine Tricker, had the opportunity to hear from Jeff Gould and Wayne Partello of the San Diego Padres at this month’s University Club Distinguished Speaker Series. Jeff Gould, Senior Manager of Premium and Membership Sales, and Wayne Partello, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, discussed the upcoming season and the Padres’ commitment to and role in the San Diego community. With the Chargers now in Los Angeles, the Padres are ready to take the spotlight as San Diego’s team and continue to foster a strong sense of community within the city.

Voted the number one baseball stadium in America, Petco Park is more than a place to watch a baseball game. Gould and Partello highlighted how the team intends to use the ballpark as a way to foster a sense of community within San Diego. Jeff Gould discuss some of Petco Park’s one of a kind seating including the Home Base Box Seating, where you can view the game with similar comfort of your home living room, or the new Waterfront, a Craft Pier in right center field modeled after San Diego’s pier.

Gould and Partello also discussed the Padres’ dedication to giving back to the community through the community outreach team and volunteer work. This year, the Padres are once again excited to partner with Pedal the Cause for Padres Pedal the Cause cycling fundraiser which plans to include a ride over the Coronado bridge.

Lastly, Wayne Partello highlighted what to look forward to on the field this season and future seasons as the coach staff and players have been working hard to grow and improve the team. The Padres have recruited a large amount of young talent from the Dominican Republic that will soon show on the field and lead the Padres to success. The Padres are committed to obtaining the best players.

The event offered Catherine and Emma an insightful look into the upcoming Padres season and a one of a kind opportunity to network with leaders and experienced business men and women in the San Diego area.
