The first official day of the IMG World Congress of Sports featured some of the most influential in the sports industry. We started off the day with NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum discussing with Scott Blackmun (CEO of USOC), Bill Daly (NHL Deputy Commissioner), Brian Burke (Calgary Flames President of Hockey Operations), Larry Miller (President, Jordan Brand) and Oliver Luck (NCAA EVP of Regulatory Affairs) the potential legalization of gambling and its implications for the sports industry. We then had the privilege to hear from MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred who explained MLB’s attempt to pace up the game and engage the youth through their parents.
We can’t wait for day 2 of the Conference which will feature among other people Thierry Weil (FIFA Marketing Director), Todd Goldstein (AEG Chief Revenue Officer) and Jeff Weiner (Linkedin CEO). We will also be fortunate to attend the Forty Under Forty dinner and take a behind the scenes tour of the Staples Center. Stay tuned for a recap of Day 4!
