This week’s student of the week is from the suburbs of St. Louis, MO where he worked as an IT Engineer. After deciding to make the leap into sports, Kevin packed up his bags and headed out west to explore what careers the world of hockey has to offer.
Hometown: St. Louis, Missouri
Undergraduate College: University of Missouri, Columbia (Mizzou)
Favorite sports to play: Ice hockey, wrestling, and baseball
Favorite Sports Movie: It’s a toss-up between Goon and Happy Gilmore.
Why SDSU Sports MBA? I was a late-bloomer into the sport of hockey but I became obsessed with it in high school and college. Realizing I want my career to revolve around the sport, I decided a California school would be the best opportunity to work in a growing hockey market, and the MBA program put SDSU as my number one choice.
Favorite class so far: Statistics.
Fun fact about yourself: I taught myself to skate at 21 years old and have been playing hockey every week since.
Best out of the classroom activity so far: Working the Farmer’s Insurance Open. Getting to volunteer to work behind-the-scenes and gather various customer data was a fantastic experience to relate future classes to.
