Kicking Off SMBA Alumni Week 2014

SDSU Sports MBA Logo_Now that networking week has wrapped up, the San Diego State Sports MBA Class of 2015 is returning from all over the country to San Diego for the 2014 edition of Alumni Week. During Alumni Week, Sports MBA alumni will travel back to San Diego (physically and in some cases digitally) and share their wisdom, experiences, and advice with the current class. It’s another opportunity for the class of 2015 to network with some of the best and brightest professionals in the sports industry, each with San Diego State Sports MBA ties. It might start to sound like a broken record, but it really is true that every chance we get to meet with leaders in the sports industry is a valuable opportunity for us to network. But meeting with an SMBA alumni is different. Each interaction with the program alumni is an opportunity for us to learn more about the sports industry as a whole, as well as to hear about their success stories from their days in the program to where they are now. Part of what appealed to me while looking at San Diego State SMBA last year was the presence of the active and involved alumni network. Alumni Week is just one of the countless ways that alumni choose to be involved with the current SMBA candidates.

We are looking forward to the next seven days where we will all get a chance to interact with and learn from some of our program’s most successful alumni. While SMBA is just in its tenth year of existence, we have alumni in virtually every facet of the sports industry. As a current SMBA candidate, I’m looking forward to hearing each alumni’s story and to learn about their roles within their respected fields. It’s reassuring to know that they were all in my seat just a few short years ago and have gone on to take their experiences and knowledge gained from the program and turn it into a career in sports.

Be sure to check back later in the week for more content on some of the outstanding alumni who made the trek back to Montezuma Mesa for Alumni Week 2014.
