This week Tom Ruyle and I had the wonderful opportunity to work and attend the PAC 12 Conference media days at Hollywood and Highland in Hollywood, California. One of the largest events of the year for the PAC 12 conference featured all 12 member schools; Cal, Stanford, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, UCLA, USC, Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, and Colorado. Each school brought one offensive player, one defensive player, and the head coach to speak with the media. This is an opportunity for the players and coaches to discuss the upcoming year and put their brand on display for the media. While this event is all about getting the players and coaches exposure for the upcoming year the PAC 12 Conference developed new fun ways to get players and coaches involved and develop content they can use throughout the year on their different media platforms.
The PAC 12 set up a slime booth where players from each school would come and make slime. This was a fun interactive way for the conference to have interviews with players and create content for their different media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and their network. Another interesting promotion they had was the different doughnut flavors for each school. Everyone was encouraged to try the different flavors; my personal favorite was the red velvet with blue sprinkles for the Arizona Wildcats.
Overall this was a great experience, Tom and I are extremely fortunate to have been part of a great event. This was the most well run operation that either of us have participated in and all the credit goes to the amazing PAC 12 employees (especially Noveen) we were fortunate to meet with. The conference slogan Conference of Champions is not just a saying it is a way of life that these employees display in their work everyday. Thank you to the PAC 12 Conference for letting us be part of the event and a special thanks to Taylor Lien, Director of Business Operations, for providing the opportunity.
