Pope Thrives as SDSU Falls in the MWC Finals

Written by Andrew Sklar (SMBA ’17)

SDSU fought hard put fell short late to a talented Fresno State team in the MWC Finals. Marvelle Harris led the Bulldogs with 18 points and hit a few spectacular shots to keep his team alive. While the loss was bitter, there was a silver lining for the Aztecs; Malik Pope was amazing! He played his best game of the year by far, and looks to be in prime position to develop into the player Aztec fans have been anticipating.

Behind the scenes with Experience and the MWC, Andrew, Sean, and Eric helped set up for the championship game. They worked as a team to set the stage and provide quality assurance for the post game ceremony and pressers. They also helped to increase the fan experience, activating for the Experience auction by promoting it and providing fulfillment for the auctioned merchandise. Auctioned items included signed game balls by both head coaches and front row seats to the press conference. All proceeds went to benefit the ALS Foundation in honor of Aztecs Assistant Coach Marc Fisher, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2011. Marc is the son of SDSU head coach Steve Fisher.

As a group we want to say thank you to the MWC and Experience for allowing us to work the event this year. We would also like to give special thank you to MWC CFO Gary Walenga (SMBA ’07) and Peyton Beard of Experience (expapp.com) for providing an incredible learning experience!
