SDSU SEAT interns Larry Tieu (SMBA ’16), Joaquín Rodriguez (SMBA ’16), Andrés Ehrli (SMBA ’16), and Lauren Winkelman (SMBA ’16)

Day 2 of the SEAT Conference marked the official start of the annual event with all sessions being open to both vendors and attendees. In order to meet the increasing need for collaboration on different levels within the industry, content was built around four distinct tracks:

Chief Information Officer (CIO) Venue Technology

Chief Experience Officer (CXO) Leaders Strategy

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Leaders

Digital Marketing Leaders

Within each of those tracks, a series of panels, roundtable discussions, executive keynote interviews, and presentation of case studies were held to foster discussion and collaboration between diverse groups of industry professionals. Interns rotated through each of the tracks throughout the day in order to maximize exposure to the dialogue that is taking place at the intersection of sports and technology as well as learn the many challenges the industry faces in a world of continually evolving technology.

One of the highlights for the day was an executive keynote interview with Box CEO, Aaron Levie. As one of the technology industry’s best innovators and forward thinkers, Aaron shared his strategy on internal collaboration within his organization, personal lessons learned from a leadership style rooted in “thinking like a start-up in an established industry,” and his thoughts on the future of the cloud. Attendees and interns alike were able to glean some valuable advice on leadership and innovation directly from one of the industry’s most dynamic executives.

Other topics throughout the day included: capturing the time and attention of fans, WiFi usage and metrics in the stadium, the future of enterprise technology in sports and entertainment, building a fully integrated loyalty program for fans and members, CRM implementation, and activation beyond the stadium.
