The one-year school work went by so fast that we almost did not notice. The long days of classes, library and group projects are behind us just to give way to intensive hands-on experience with internships and full-time jobs. Now, the class is dispersed all around the country working within the sports industry and practicing what we learned in this program.
Here is a review of what we are doing and where, our last post until we meet again in June for graduation!
The company is a sports management, specifically a soccer business industry owned by Keisuke Honda, who plays for AC Milan in Italy and the Japan National team. The headquarters (Honda Estilo) are in Tokyo, Japan, but they just launched Honda Estilo USA in San Diego as one of their branches. Honda Estilo USA is working on soccer club management and soccer clinic for younger generation mainly in southern California area. I’m in charge of extending their brand and get sponsors from companies in L.A to host a big soccer competition in the near future. To increase the brand, I can do anything that I want to do and provide ideas that I come up with. It’s a startup business, so I’m very excited to be involved in this business just like an entrepreneur.
Learfield and Century Club
I’m currently putting my SMBA skills to work at two companies in San Diego and expanding my knowledge in the world of Sponsorship. This includes providing sponsor recaps after each event and end of the year recaps. After this, my duties will change as my department changes!
As a Market Research Intern, some of my responsibilities include creating, distributing and analyzing online surveys while also assisting the business areas in planning and executing fan focus groups to achieve a better understanding of the club’s fan base.
